Britt Airways in 1987 operating as Eastern Express

Postby Peter Liddell » Tue Nov 06, 2012 3:48 pm

So yup... got the info for one more of Eastern Express' operators...
Britt Airways operated for EAx for a short period in 1987. Mostly from PHL (replaced SJA), however one interesting operation was Columbus, OH to Orlando, FL with BAC 1-11s.
The route map is seen here in the express insets:

Never painted for EAx, Britt operated in either Continental Express colors or mostly in it's own colors:

I don't know if it's worth adding it to the timetable... I could stand to duplicate the PHL express runs with SJA but it would just add more Beech 99 flying, that's all they show ex-PHL...

Or just the BAC 1-11s...
Timetable for them:

Columbus (CMH) to Orlando (MCO)

EA(RU) 2701 11:30-13:40 1234567
EA(RU) 2703 18:40-20:50 1234567

Orlando (MCO) to Columbus (CMH)

EA(RU) 2700 8:30-10:40 1234567
EA(RU) 2702 16:00-18:10 1234567

I voted yes solely because I LOVE flying David Maltby's superb BAC-111!

Well so far it seems to be unanimous... I guess I better get permission to use a Britt texture set for the DM BAC 1-11-400HK :)
I think I've got enough to code the timetable when I get back.

And I agree Barry, I love Dave Maltby's BACs (and his Comet, VC10 and especially Trident). I though about creating a fictional British VA from the 60s just to use them... but too much work, so I just fly them for fun once in a while. Both Trident and Comet 4 will probably eventually get Golden Falcon what if paint... I actually started on the Trident 2 years ago but never finished it.

Peter, when you get a chance check out Classic British Flight Service. They fly DM's birds using FSAirlines.net where they have their own airline of the same name. I have an install of FS2004 backdated to the 1945-1975 period just for flying with them. Not terribly active, in fact all of my type ratings have expired, but still one of my favorites. My main aircraft there in the past has been the Vickers Vanguard turboprop.

I know about them... I just wanted my own ;) I also thought seriously about creating a Trans Canada Virtual, but again no time... and I'd rather do Golden Falcons ;)
I started working on a Golden Falcon Trident again... I'm going to try and get a new fleet section up soon for "What Ifs and Almost Was' ", including Trident, BAe 146 (EMX), 737-200, Viscount, Comet 4, EMB-120 (PBA) and so on.

Anyways, I'm going to get the BAC 1-11s up this week, I don't think I will bother with the Beech 99s for now... maybe later. Apparently there was a "short lived" Britt connection service from CMH in 88/89 with Metros and/or F-27/FH-227s to CLE, DAY, CAK, PIT, EVV, SDF, LEX, PAH, ERI? and TOL?... I don't have a timetable for it though, only a route map and I'm not sure they were all flown for EA, but if i can find one I'll look into adding those flights as that would be a cool extra set of runs and aircraft (The Friendships anyways, not so much the Metros ;) )

Added to timetable and SystemONE, aircraft should be available this weekend (possibly tonight). I am painting my own as the author of the existing paint has not replied to inquiries.

If it's not to much trouble to add, I'm always up for more options, and I've always heard DM has some superb planes.
